Concepts of Independence is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization whose only purpose is to administer Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Services program (known as CDPAS or CDPAP) in the New York State. We are committed to the philosophy of CDPAP and its underlying principles of independence, consumer direction and self-determination. Our Consumers have grown to include individuals who require high-level home care services and consumers who are not independently self-directing, such as children and the elderly who require the assistance of a Designated Representative.
Our mission is to administer Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Services (CDPAS) in New York State. Concepts pioneered the original Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Services program in 1980, and currently serve Consumers in 25 counties of New York State: the five boroughs of NYC (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, and Staten Island), Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Orange, Rockland, Sullivan, Albany, Delaware, Fulton, Greene, Schoharie, Hamilton, Montgomery, Saratoga, Schenectady, Rensselaer, Warren and Clinton.
